Foods such as pickles, vinegar, fried foods, hot spicy foods, chocolate, pastries, and raw salad vegetables like onion, radish, cabbage, and peppers should be avoided.
Clove also helps to relieve the symptoms of acidity. Suck one piece of clove slowly to relieve the symptoms. It also helps to reduce the onset of disease that arises due to acidity.
A cup of vanilla ice cream or a glass of cold milk also helps to get relieve heartburn and acidity within minutes.
Almonds are also a good source for relieving the heartburn and acidity. Eat several almonds when heartburn symptoms persist.
Lemons also help to prevent heartburn. Cut a lemon into thin strips and dip in salt. Eat before meals to prevent heartburn.
Take some mint leaves and chop these and then boil in a cup of water and sip slowly after meals. If a person drinks Fresh mint juice every day he will never experience acidity.

You do this by diluting the essential oils in a neutral carrier oil such as almond oil and then rub the oil into your stomach area, chest and throat. You sprinkle a couple of drops of oil onto a handkerchief and inhale or you could make your own aromatherapy inhaler by putting a teaspoon of salt into a tiny dark glass or PET plastic bottle and adding a few drops of the essential oil to the salt. All you then have to do is take the top of the bottle and breathe in the vapor.
Using a foot bath or hand bath
You fill a large bowl with warm water and add a couple of drops of your oil and put your hands or feet in the water. The warm water causes the blood vessels to dilate and the oil is absorbed via the skin. You may also be able to inhale the oil.
A small towel can be soaked in a bowl of warm water to which a few drops of oil have been added. You squeeze the excess water out of the towel and place it on the stomach until it cools and you can repeat if needed.

When you first think about this question you would have probably expected this question to have a very definite answer either one way or the other. Simple logic would apparently require this, as how could the same food possibly both seemingly cure and cause the same condition.
However if you consider the matter in a little more detail you start to see how this could be possible as not all yogurts are the same, they have different levels of fat content as well as different levels of acidity and different ingredients. Unfortunately a yogurt doesn’t have to contain just yogurt and if you read the ingredients list of a diet yogurt you might start to wonder just how much yogurt it contains.
So why does yogurt cause heartburn or acid reflux
Compared to milk, yogurt is a much more acidic food and depending upon the variety chosen it can be quite high in fat. Some luxury yogurts have added cream or are given a more intense flavor by the addition of milk powder or other ingredients. It is the fat content which does the damage as fatty foods have to stay in our stomach for longer because they are more difficult to breakdown and digest. This means our stomach has to produce more acid over a longer period.
If you believe that yogurt is aggravating your heartburn and acid reflux symptoms you can either try switching to a type of zero fat yogurt with no unexpected added ingredients which also contains probiotics or you may need to stop eating yogurt altogether as there do appear to be a small percentage of unfortunate people who cannot tolerate yogurt without it causing them heartburn or acid reflux.

Baking soda works to ease the symptoms of heartburn and reflux because it neutralizes the stomach acids in exactly the same way as an OTC antacid but it should not be used by anyone taking prescription medication or with high blood pressure without first checking with your doctor or pharmacist.
Baking soda produces a chemical reaction when it combines with the Hydrochloric acid in your stomach and it breaks down to produce common salt, carbon dioxide and water. Add exactly 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to 1/2 glass (4 fl. oz.) of water and take every 2 hours
The baking soda must be completely dissolved in the water before drinking or this could cause serious injury
It is also important not to take this remedy when your stomach is overly full
If you experience severe stomach pain after taking this product you should consult your doctor
Do not exceed 7 x 1/2 teaspoons in any 24 hours unless over 60 when this should be restricted to 3 x 1/2 teaspoons
Do not use the maximum dose for more than two weeks
If the symptoms last more than two weeks stop using the baking soda to treat the heartburn and consult your doctor
Baking powder and baking soda are not the same. Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate but baking powder is not. Baking powder does contain sodium bicarbonate, but it also includes cream of tartar which is an acidifying agent, together with a drying agent which is normally starch.
Taking baking powder for your heartburn symptoms would have no effect as the baking powder would neutralize itself.
